Throughout his career, Dr. Jerry Hu has been active in the forefront of ophthalmic surgeries, including blade-free femtosecond laser cataract surgery, intraoperative wavefront aberometry, blade-free wavefront-guided custom Intralase LASIK and no-stitch endothelial cornea transplantation. He is one of the few elite surgeons in the country who have been invited to demonstrate the latest cataract surgical techniques and the most cutting-edge technologies in front of a world-wide audience through real time, live surgery presentation. As one of the select fellowship-trained cornea specialists in the Metroplex area, Dr. Hu specializes in modern laser refractive surgery, including blade-free wavefront-guided custom intralase LASIK and PRK, as well as the most advanced treatment modalities for keratoconus including Intacs and collagen crosslinking. Dr. Jerry Hu was among the first in north Texas to introduce sutureless endothelial cornea transplantation. Dr. Hu’s corneal services also include no-stitch pterygium surgery, full-thickness corneal transplantation and other anterior segment procedures. In addition, with a strong interest in comprehensive ophthalmology, Dr. Hu has extensive experience in the treatment of glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, dry eyes and other ocular diseases.
Dr. Jerry Hu is a co-founder of the Texas Eye Surgery Center which offers the state-of-the-art ophthalmic surgeries in a clean, pleasant and efficient outpatient setting. The scope of services includes cataract, pterygium, glaucoma, diabetes, corneal transplantation, eyelid surgery, YAG and Argon laser surgeries as well as various other advanced ocular procedures.
Dr. Jerry Hu joined Texas Eye & Laser Center after completing a fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery with the world-renowned Jules Stein Eye Institute at University of California, Los Angeles. After graduating from Davidson College with Honors, Dr. Hu attended Duke University School of Medicine where he also completed his residency in ophthalmology.
Dr. Hu is actively involved in ophthalmic clinical research and has been a principal investigator in numerous FDA clinical trials of cataract implants, ophthalmic surgical devices and pharmaceutical agents.
